Bond Gold, Native deal enters second year

The Windigo council and Bond Gold struck the deal in March 1988 to ensure that the natives receive economic and social benefits from the mine that sits in an area held by the Cat Lake, Slate Falls and Osnaburgh Indian bands.

A management committee with representatives from the council, the Indian bands , the federal and provincial governments, and Bond Gold ensures that the agreement is implemented fairly.

A similar deal was reached by Placer Dome at its Dona Lake mine in 1987.
