The Newfoundland branch of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy & Petroleum (CIM) will host a conference on exploration in the Maritimes.

The meeting, entitled “Rediscovering Atlantic Canada,” is scheduled for Nov. 6-8 at the Delta Hotel and Convention Centre in St. John’s, Nfld.

A 2-day technical program will be featured, as will field trips to areas related to the minerals industry.

Technical sessions will feature presentations on regional geology, minerals, mining and metallurgy. Also scheduled are tours of Argentia (site of the proposed smelter for the Voisey’s Bay nickel-copper-cobalt deposit of Inco), and the Avalon Peninsula.
