Agnico-Eagle Mines (TSE) recently reported the discovery of a new gold-bearing zone 300 ft. north of the main production area at its LaRonde gold mine at Cadillac Twp., Que.
President Paul Penna bought 36,200 shares for $4.55-4.70 to hold 325,142, according to the Ontario Securities Commission OSC Bulletin. He also bought 26,500 warrants for 35-42 cents to hold the same number.
In addition, Mentor Exploration (TSE), which already holds 49.5%, purchased 89,900 shares for an undisclosed price to hold 2.6 million.
Other mining insiders who were active in the stock market recently include: American Barrick Resources (TSE) director David Davies sold 58,000 shares for $26 to hold 10,000 directly. Chairman Peter Munk sold 434,000 for $28.1 to hold 652,500 directly and 2.8 million indirectly. Chief financial officer Gregg Wilkins sold 2,500 shares for $28-28.50.
Bethlehem Resources Vice-President Brian Kynoch sold 21,438 shares for 38-45 cents to hold 235,688.
Deak Resources (TSE) director Frank Smeenk sold 30,000 shares for 39-40 cents to hold 144,490 shares directly and one million indirectly.
Glamis Gold (TSE) Chairman Chester Millar sold 93,500 shares for $3.46 to hold 1.1 million.
Joutel Resources (TSE) director John Arnold sold 1.9 million subordinated voting shares for 12 cents to hold 208,333.
Mineral Rayrock (TSE) director Lindsay Semple bought 51,500 shares indirectly for 65-70 cents to hold 349,105.
