The property is situated 140 miles southwest of Rankin Inlet, in the Northwest Territories.
The three-step recovery method, carried out by Lakefield Research, consisted of preparing a concentrate by flotation followed by pressure oxidation and gold extraction by cyanidation. The companies say that the tests confirm acceptable recovery rates are possible for the project. A program of airborne and ground geophysical surveys, as well as prospect ing, rock and soil geochemical surveys, will begin next month on the remote 100,000-acre property.
Last year, the companies completed 34,460 ft of drilling in 64 holes in addition to prospecting and mapping.
This year’s drilling will be designed to better delineate the gold zones defined to date and test the immediate vicinity along strike. Reconnaissance ground magnetic surveys accompanied by geochemical sampling will be carried out to prospect drift covered parts of an iron carbonate zone hosting the original discovery.
On the balance of the claims, an airborne EM and magnetic survey and preliminary prospecting and mapping will search for continuity of the favorable iron carbonate zones.
To date drilling has outlined a number of steeply dipping gold- bearing zones with highlights as follows: HoleWidthGradeDepth (ft)(oz/t)(ft) East zone 29 9.80.26400 32 6.90.22275 3527.90.26650 5528.20.18560 63 3.30.29540 West zone 3712.80.17400 1810.80.29200 60 8.50.22295 5917.20.28295
