50 YEARS AGO March, 1938 C.I.M.M. CONVENTION HITS ALL-TIME RECORD

With a registration of 1,585 on the second night, the 39th annual convention of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy at Toronto established a new signpost this week in the upward march of the Canadian mining industry.

An all-time peak for attendance and interest was represented by the invasion of the Royal York Hotel by people of mining interests from all four corners of the dominion. Significantly, attendance was estimated at nearly three times that of the annual meeting in Ottawa two years ago. Reprinted from The Northern Miner, March, 1938.
