Fournier Wins $16M Contract With Osisko

With the rollercoaster ride of commodity prices of late, it can be hard for smaller manufacturers not to get pushed aside by their more powerful counterparts.

But nearly 50 years of experience in Quebec gave Fournier Industries a bit of a lead over the competition, landing it a $16-million contract with Osisko Mining (OSK-T, OSKFF-O).

“This first contract with Osisko is a major project for the company,” said Harold Roy, vice-president and CEO of Fournier, in a statement. He added the contract would allow the company to maintain more than 65 full-time jobs for a year.

The contract, valued at $16 million, will see the company supply mining equipment for Osiko’s Canadian Malartic gold project, 20 km west of Val d’Or, Que.

Fournier has been working on project development with the Montreal-based mining junior since October.

In addition to manufacturing mining equipment, Fournier also builds and markets rotary presses for use in dehydrating wastewater for companies and municipalities.
