Newmont suffers heavy fire damage

The ensuing fire was fought for approximately four hours in sub- zero temperatures before it was extinguished and there were no injuries. Repairs are expected to take about two months to complete and Newmont says there will be no loss in production at Mill No 2 owing to the availability of other crushing facilities.

Small losses in production from leach facilities will be experienced from the use of the leach crusher to provide mill feed, the company adds.
