MINING IN MEXICO — Amelia exploration planned

The Amelia heap-leach gold mine near the Mexican town of Magdelena in the state of Sonora poured its first gold in January of this year.

Owner Minera Roca Roja said that during the first three months of the year, gold output totaled 338 oz. The production schedule called for full production of 2,300 oz. gold and 400 oz. silver per month to be archieved during the latter part of the summer.

Plans to commence a systematic exploration program on the 7,500-hectare land holdings of Roca Roja have been drawn up.
