The 225 unionized employees at Noranda’s (TSE) Matagami division in northern Quebec have voted 85% in favor of accepting a new collective agreement.
Under the terms of the 3-year agreement which became effective Nov. 18, 1992, wages will increase by 3% each year. Improvements were also made to pensions and other benefits.
The Matagami division employs 335 people and consists of two underground zinc-copper mines and a 2,000-tonne-per-day mill.
