Reverse-circulation drilling will be applied to the Goldbanks property, 30 miles south of Win- nemuca, Nev.
Newhawk Gold Mines (TSE) says the 5,000-ft. program is intended to test two targets.
One of these, the Del Oro, comprises a rock geochemical anomaly measuring 500 by 350 ft. Previous, shallow drilling, to depths of up to 120 ft., returned 0.031 oz. gold per ton over 10 ft., and 0.01 oz. gold over 50 ft.
Anomalous gold values associated with shallow thrust structures were intersected in eight of the 12 previous holes.
Gold mineralization at the second target, the Pronto Plata, is associated with a westerly dipping, north-south-striking fault zone. Limited historic drilling on the target returned 0.027 oz. gold over 50 ft., 0.033 oz. gold over 200 ft., and 0.027 oz. gold over 100 ft., in three holes.
Newhawk’s drilling will include six holes on the Pronto Plata, which will test the target at depth over a strike length of 3,500 ft.
