SUMMARY:AME Education Series
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the inaugural AME Education Series – April 20-21 at SFU Segal Building in Vancouver. \nThe AME Education Series is a series of sessions and workshops aimed at providing professional development and networking opportunities to AME members. See the two-day program below for details! \nThursday\, April 20 \nSocial Media\, Crisis Communications for Exploration Companies \nThe rapid spread of information on social media platforms\, the growth of digital content viewership and increasing public interest in the mineral exploration and development industry requires companies better understand how to navigate and take advantage of these tools to succeed today and in the future. With new technology coming on-stream\, the 24-hour news cycle is also dramatically changing how quickly companies need to respond when facing a crisis. This session will focus on best practices for utilizing social media and responding in a crisis. \nWorking Together: Building Social Responsibility and Aboriginal Relationships \nThis “interactive story-telling” session will immerse participants in the stories and real-life experiences of mineral explorers. We will discuss important social responsibility and Aboriginal themes\, such as maintaining the “social chain of custody\,” cultural awareness and sensitivity\, early engagement and community participation as well as reconciliation in BC. \n Friday\, April 21 \nExploration Safety for Management and Project Supervisors \nThis one-day course will provide you with techniques and tools for keeping your project team safe. From exploring a culture of safety and new regulatory changes to an interactive session on creating emergency response plans\, this course will help prepare you for safe\, responsible exploration in the 2017 field season. With tools and strategies for handling hazard and risk assessment and for managing teams in the field.
