Québec City, October 15, 2012 –Dominique Dionne, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Québec Mining Association (QMA), is pleased to announce the appointment of Josée Méthot as the Association’s President and CEO, succeeding Dan Tolgyesi who plans to retire. Ms. Méthot takes up her official duties today.
Ms. Méthot is an engineer with over 25 years experience. She holds a Master’s degree in business administration from HEC, the Université de Montréal business school (1992), and a Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from McGill University (1984).
Over the last 20 years Ms. Méthot has held senior management positions as CEO or President and CEO of various non-profit and municipal organizations, including the Montréal Centre for Excellence in Brownfields Rehabilitation, Réseau Environnement and the inter-municipal waste management board for the Island of Montréal. She has also worked for Dessau, Tioxide Canada Inc. and Alcan Smelters and Chemicals Limited.
“I am extremely pleased to welcome Josée Méthot to the Association,” says Dominique Dionne, Chair of the QMA Board of Directors. “I firmly believe that she will be able to use her accomplishments as manager of non-profit organizations, her interpersonal skills and her leadership as senior manager of industrial associations for the benefit of the Association and Québec’s mining industry as a whole. She has extensive experience in communications, administration, the environment and finance. She also has a broad network of contacts in both the public and private sectors, which will help her establish a constructive dialogue on economic development with government decision-makers.”

Dan Tolgyesi will continue to work with the Association until the end of 2012.
